Dredging view from South Beach Marina |
State and federal regulators halted a dredging in 2003 after a contractor was accused of improperly dumping dredge spoil into Calibogue Sound instead of the approved offshore site.
The sediment was getting to such a level that many boats had difficulty going in and out of Calibogue sound. In fact, in Harbour Town you could often see boats floating on the sediment within a few hours of low tide.
This dredging project will certainly increase property values in and around the marinas, help local businesses and make for a more beautiful Heritage this year.
As the saying goes “a rising tide floats all boats”
